Recipe for the Perfect Mom

In April, my lovely friends at The Mason Jar Merchant asked me to be a part of their "What Makes A Perfect Mom?" Blog Post.

At first, I was very hesitant, as I, myself, am not a mom yet, but I am surrounded by many best friends, family members, and of course my own mom, who are mothers. I started to think about some of the things that I valued in a mom, what kind of mom do I want to be one day? As a woman who is constantly inspired and motivated by other women who are taking on the world in the workplace and at home, I got to thinking that this actually was such a special task to be included in. I constantly am striving to motivate and uplift other women, and think that starting with Mom, is a great way to get to the roots of our own motivation.

For the post, I shared with the Mason Jar Merchant Community that "SELFLESSNESS" was my word of choice for my mother.

Selflessness

adjective    1. concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with one's own; unselfish

”Being a mother means putting your family before yourself. My mother who has always been an amazing host, always ensured our home was cleaned, prepped and ready for a great family gathering. The rest of the family was fed, clothed and happy before she was. Now that I am older, and starting to build my own family, I can recognize the sheer selflessness that a mother portrays in order to ensure that her family is well taken care of and that her house is in order and looks immaculate before she does.”

I came up with my own recipe for the perfect kind of Mom I hope to be one day.

I realize that being a mom means you are of course not perfect, you are human, and you make mistakes like everyone else. Mother's juggle a lot day to day, from careers, children, personal relationships, hobbies, etc. It simply is impossible to be "perfect" and to embody all of these "perfect" traits and qualities all the time. I was really inspired by some of the Mother's in this post who shared very raw and vulnerable stories about being a mom. To me, that is real, and that is the most perfect part about being a mom, knowing that you don't have it together all the time, that you aren't always doing the right thing, but you are getting through it, and doing the best you can with what you have. We are all in this together!

To all of the amazing mother's in my life, I applaud you for all of the incredible things you do and have done. You truly are superheroes. Some of you may feel sometimes that you are overworked, tired, unappreciated, helpless and terrified, but I want you to know that you are perfect just the way you are, and you are doing an amazing job!
