Self-Care Tips

Self-care is something we all need. Unfortunately it's also something that can easily be neglected when the going gets tough. Keep in mind it doesn’t always have to be something lavish or luxurious, sometimes it’s just checking in with yourself to make sure you're taking proper care of your mind and body.

Here are some simple, easily forgotten about self-care tips that when seriously implemented go a long way:

Unplug

  • It’s so important to give yourself some time to relax and unwind without it being attached to a screen. Some ideas to unplug are meditation, nature walks, warm baths, and reading a book.

Prioritize sleep

  • Proper sleep is something that is essential to your brain functioning healthily and happily. When you don’t sleep enough or have poor quality sleep, this can lead to lapses in memory, irritability, lack of concentration, decreased reaction time, and more. To be at your best, ensure you get 7-9 hours of sleep. Allow yourself to nap here and there too!

Eat healthy, drink water, and exercise

  • Along with prioritizing sleep, these tips are no brainers. We all know that these things make us feel better and contribute to our health and productivity. However, it can be difficult to stay on top of it all.

  • When it comes to eating healthy, meal-prepping is your friend. Save a couple hours before your work week starts to prepare all your meals. For more information on meal-prep, check out this blog or MealPrepSunday on reddit!

  • Staying hydrating is something that most people don’t even realize slips through their fingers. Dehydration can cause headaches, fatigue, and irritability to name a few. To remind yourself to drink enough water, check out an app like this!

  • Exercise is something that benefits all aspects of life, both physically and mentally. Whether it’s a yoga flow, pilates, dancing, jogging, or something completely different, get yourself moving with something you actually love doing. Exercising is a chore when you hate it.

  • And remember not to be hard on yourself if you can’t always eat healthy or exercise, it’s okay to just do what you can!

Make sure your workspace works for you

  • Your workspace is something that should fit your needs, not the opposite. If you want to learn more about improving ergonomics, check out this blog!

Stick to your work hours

  • Though this may be hard especially as a small business owner or entrepreneur, it’s something so important and underrated. You need to give yourself time to rest so you can be at your best for the next day. Don’t unnecessarily overwork yourself.

Never underestimate the importance of self-care, especially the little things!
